On New Year’s Day a devastating 7.6 magnitude earthquake shook Japan’s remote Noto Peninsula, killing 241 people and leaving a further 11 missing. About 55,000 houses were destroyed or badly damaged.
Wajima was one of the worst-hit towns – buildings were toppled and a major fire broke out as a result of the quake.
More than four weeks on, the BBC returned to Wajima to investigate the extent of the devastation – finding people still without running water.
